This image captures the distinctive West End Cross at the end of Wellmeadow Street, with Broomlands Street to the left and Sandholes Street to the right. The term 'Coffin End' aptly describes the unusual street arrangement where the building facing the camera is notably shorter, flanked by longer blocks on either side, creating a visual reminiscent of a coffin's shape. Memories

In more resent times 1968 I left school and started work in the dental surgery which was added underneath ath the West end clock . Hugh C Laurie before that it was Boyd Brothers who had the surgery . By coincidence I got married in 1972 and moved into our first bought flat in 26 Maxwellton St which was the home of the Boyd Brothers when they set up the dental surgery I'm sure many folk remember going to Mr Laurie's to get their teeth out. The picture brought back so many memories
